Survivor 27 : Blood vs Water
The newest Survivor USA Series was shot entirely in wild Palaui Island in Sta Ana, Cagayan. I saw firsthand the scale of this production. It took 6 months to shoot and needed an army of 200 people and a mountain of equipment to complete.
Refloating an Ocean Liner – The Costa Concordia
The recovery and re-floating of the massive 114,000 Ton luxury liner that crashed off the coast of Tuscany. The technology to recover this ship is an incredible feat of engineering. The BBC caught this whole 19 hour operation on time lapse mode.
Critter Heaven
I dove the twin national underwater parks of Bunaken & Lembeh in Manado, Indonesia in 2011. This was my first experience with Muck & Critter Diving @ Lembeh Straits. I used to frown on looking for small critters but I was utterly blown away by these bizarre creatures. They come in all shapes, move in weird ways and they are funny most of all
What’s surprising is that the 2 National Parks are very close to the main town of Manado, which has a population of over 400,000 people. The fact that these marine parks are teeming with fish life speaks volumes on the management & protection of its resources. All the major dive resorts have formed an association to help the authorities in protecting the park for the benefit of recreational scuba divers from all corners of the world. This is a good example of all stakeholders working together for the benefit of the environment.
